What is Doujin Expo?
The Doujin Expo is a doujinshi convention in the Philippines. This event aims to showcase self-published print works from both local and overseas creators, and encourage aspiring storytellers to self-publish their works.
Doujinshi (or doujin) is the Japanese term for self-published print works such as comics, stories, and zines. A doujinshi may contain either an original or derivative (or fan-made) work. In Japan, both amateur and professional creators join a doujinshi market to sell their works and interact with readers.
Doujin Expo follows the typical doujinshi market concept: The spotlight is on the creators and their doujinshi, activities for readers, fans, and fellow creators of doujinshi also take place, cosplayers can attend even though it is not a cosplay event, and spots for corporate exhibitors are limited.
Venue
The Philippine Trade Training Center is an agency founded in 1987. It is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) through a development assistance grant from the Government of Japan. In addition to the agency conducting trainings and short courses, its venue halls also hold large events.
